방탄소년단은 빅히트 엔터테인먼트에 소속된 대한민국의 7인조 보이 그룹으로 RM, SUGA, 진, j-hope, 지민, V, 정국으로 구성되어 있다. 2013년 학교 시리즈의 시작인 [2 COOL 4 SKOOL]로 데뷔, 이듬해 첫 정규 앨범 [DARK&WILD]을 성공적으로 발매한데 이어 화양연화 시리즈로 많은 사랑을 받았다. 특히 네 번째 미니앨범 [화양연화 pt.2]는 빌보드 200에 첫 진입하는 쾌거를 이루며 해외에서 사랑받는 아이돌로의 전환점을 맞게 했고, 정규 2집 앨범 [WINGS]는 국내 차트는 물론, 미국을 포함한 97개국의 아이튠즈 앨범 차트 1위를 휩쓸었다. 앨범의 성공에 이어 한국 아티스트 최초로 "빌보드 뮤직 어워드"에 초청받아 "톱 소셜 아티스트" 부문을 수상하며 그 영향력을 증명하기도 했다.

 

다섯 번째 미니앨범 [LOVE YOURSELF 承`Her`]은 빌보드 앨범 차트 7위에 오르며 한국 가수 최고 순위이자 아시아 최고 신기록을 세웠으며, 타이틀곡 'DNA'는 빌보드 HOT 67위에 랭크되었다. 이 앨범으로 "멜론 뮤직 어워드"를 비롯한 국내 주요 4개의 대상을 모두 석권했고, "아메리칸 뮤직 어워드"에 퍼포머로 초청받아 성공적인 무대를 치렀다. 2018년 5월에 발표한 'FAKE LOVE'의 첫 무대는 "빌보드 뮤직 어워드"에서 공개됐으며, 2년 연속 "톱 소셜 아티스트" 부문을 수상했다. 화제에 이어 대한민국 가수 최초로 빌보드 앨범 차트 1위, 싱글 차트 10위에 올랐으며 뮤직비디오는 8일 만에 1억 뷰에 도달해 전 세계 역대 뮤직비디오 최단 기록 7위에 올랐다.

EP [MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA](2019) 발매 후에는 미국의 시사주간지 "타임"이 선정한 "2019 세계에서 가장 영향력 있는 인물 100인"에 선정되어 화제가 되었고, 2020년에는 선공개곡 'Black Swan' 공개를 시작으로 정규 4집 [MAP OF THE SOUL : 7]을 발매해 이목을 집중시켰다. 같은 해 8월에 발표한 싱글 'Dynamite'는 데뷔 이래 처음으로 영어로 곡을 소화해 전 세계 팬들의 기대를 모았고, 빌보드 차트 1위에 오르며 새 역사를 기록했다. 11월에는 코로나로 힘겨워하는 모두에게 전하는 위로의 메시지를 담은 EP [BE]로 마음을 전했다.
